How to maintain plastic roof tiles to avoid premature damage
1. Debris and vegetation from the roof regularly, keep the roof clean. Remove soil, as buildup of accumulates dirt and organic matter can hinder drainage and cause damage to the roof tiles. Inspect the gutters, downspouts and drains frequently to ensure they are functioning properly and not blocking drainage paths.
2. Inspect the roof frequently. Look for signs of wear or cracking due to extreme weather conditions such as hail, heavy rain, storm winds, snow and other weather factors. Trim back any overhanging tree branches or shrubs that may rub against the tiles.
3. Apply a water-repellent sealant, designed for plastic roofs, which will create a barrier between the surface and the elements. This will help keep the roof from fading, chalking or cracking.
If cracks or damage to the plastic roof tiles is found, repair them promptly to prevent further degradation or deterioration. If it cannot be repaired, the replace missing or cracked tiles immediately, as they can affect the integrity of the entire roof structure.
